Privacy Policy
Pluto Friends ("Pluto", "we") helps adults meet people nearby for friendship. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you have questions, write to support@plutofriends.com.
1. Who can use Pluto
Pluto is only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using Pluto, please tell us and we will remove the account.
2. Information you give us
- Account: your email address and a password (stored only in scrambled, "hashed" form). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and a private account identifier from them, and your name if you choose to share it. With Apple's "Hide My Email", we only see a private relay address.
- Profile: your first name, date of birth (others only see your age), gender, photos, bio, interests, and who you'd like to meet.
- Location: your approximate location, rounded on your phone to about 1 km before it is sent. Other people only see your city and a rounded distance, never your exact location.
- Content you create: chat messages, photos and voice messages you send, stories (which disappear after 24 hours), groups you start or join, reactions, likes and gifts.
- Verification: if you choose to get verified, a selfie copying a pose. Only our safety team sees it; it never appears on your profile.
- Reports and support: what you tell us when you report someone or contact support.
3. Information collected when you use Pluto
- Activity: likes and passes, matches, when you were last active (you can hide your online status in Settings), and purchases of Premium or coins.
- Video: video calls and Vibe Checks are live and are not recorded. If automatic safety checks are switched on, occasional still frames from your own camera are checked for nudity and then discarded.
- Device: a notification token so we can send you notifications, and basic technical information needed to keep the service running and secure (such as IP address in server logs).
4. How we use information
- To run Pluto: show you people and groups nearby, match you, deliver messages, calls and notifications.
- To keep people safe: verify profiles, review reports, block abuse and spam, and enforce our Pluto Trust & Safety guidelines.
- To process purchases and keep your Premium and coin balance accurate.
- To send account emails such as email confirmation and password resets.
We do not sell your information and we do not show advertising.
5. Who we share information with
Other Pluto members see your public profile (first name, age, gender, photos, bio, interests, city and rounded distance), and the people you chat with see your messages. We also use trusted service providers who process data only to provide their service to us:
- Hetzner (Germany): our servers, where the Pluto database and files are stored.
- Cloudflare: domain and email delivery (confirmation and password-reset emails).
- Google Firebase: delivering notifications to your phone.
- Google and Apple: sign-in (if you choose it), app distribution and payments.
- RevenueCat: managing subscriptions and coin purchases. We never see your card details.
- DeepL: translating a chat message, only when you tap "Translate".
- Sightengine: automatic nudity checks on photos and video stills, if switched on.
We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our members.
6. How long we keep information
- Stories are removed after 24 hours.
- When you delete your account, your profile, photos, matches, messages and other content are deleted from our live systems straight away. Copies in our backups are overwritten within 14 days.
- We may keep limited records longer where needed for safety (for example a report about serious abuse) or legal reasons.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and download your data: Settings → Download my data.
- Correct your profile: Profile → Edit profile.
- Hide your online status: Settings → Show when I'm online.
- Notifications: turn them off any time in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account: Settings → Delete account, or see how to delete your account.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to object to processing or complain to a data protection authority. Contact us and we will help.
8. Security
All connections to Pluto are encrypted (HTTPS). Chat photos and voice messages can only be opened by the people in that chat. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
